Meet Abbey

Abbey Niezgoda is a multimedia journalist with a passion for working both behind and in front of the camera. She shoots, edits, reports and enterprises her own stories for WLNE-TV ABC6 in Providence, Rhode Island. She is a two-time Outstanding Video Journalist Emmy® nominee (Boston-New England Chapter: 2012, 2013).

Abbey covers everything from spot news to features on a daily deadline for ABC6. You can usually find her in a loaded up SUV, traveling across Southern New England in search of stories to tell. She gets a thrill out of knowing her office could be a courthouse one day and the coast of Newport the next.

Abbey was an anchor/reporter for WERS 88.9 FM for four years, providing news updates every half hour during the morning and afternoon commutes. She also produced long form pieces for You Are Here, a weekly public affairs show on WERS.

Originally from Houston, Texas, Abbey graduated from Emerson College. When she doesn’t have a tripod on her back, she has her iPhone in her pocket, eager to take on new roles as a journalist.
